METROPOLITAN POLICE- THREE CHARGED OVER 7/7 BOMBINGS

Published: 05/04/2007 13.30

The Ramadhan Foundation recognises that the crime of 7/7 was a crime against all the people of the United Kingdom and as such we should all support the Police in their attempts to bring those responsible to justice

Following on from the charging of the 7/7 suspects we would urge the media to report on this responsibly and also urge the communities in Leeds and West Yorkshire to pass on any evidence they have to the Police.

It is deeply irresponsible of the right wing media to whip up hatred against Muslims in the run up to the Elections in May; this will only benefit the BNP and the fascists.  The people that have been arrested and charged should be given a free and fair trial and if found guilty punished.

The Ramadhan Foundation recognises that there are a small minority of people in the Muslim community that are determined to support the killing of innocent people and we need to confront, engage with them to ensure they change their ways.

The Ramadhan Foundation formally urges the Muslim community in Leeds and West Yorkshire to support the Police in their attempts to bring the perpetrators of this evil crime to justice.  Bringing these people to justice is an instruction from Islam; these people do not represent Muslims or Islam.

Mr. Shazad Anwar, Chief Executive of the Foundation comments:

“I am urging the communities of Leeds and West Yorkshire to provide whatever assistance to the police so that the people responsible for this crime are brought to justice, only then can the nation move forward.

There is a debate about the discrimination of the anti terror laws, the double standards in UK foreign policy, the illegal war in Iraq and the rise of Islamaphobia but today it is about the 7/7 attacks and we should focus on this.

We must do everything in our power to work with the community to bring those to justice, obeying the law of this land is our Islamic duty.

This must be done responsibly by the Police, not like Forest Gate and numerous other arrests”

END
