The Ramadhan Foundation today attacks David
Cameron on his statement on the current
situation in the UK. He has offended 95% of the
Muslim community by using words such as
“Islamist extremist and Muslim terrorism”.
You can not hold the whole Muslim faith system,
over one million Muslims in the UK responsible
for the actions of a small minority. Mr Cameron
and his team need to be very careful in the
terminology that is used when describing this
menace.
In his statement he asked for firm leadership
from moderate Muslim leaders, well he must be
aware there are organisations like the Ramadhan
Foundation that are leading the campaign to
tackle terrorism and also encourage
institutional reform in the Muslim community.
We require the politicians to support our
campaign and really be open minded in their
dealing with our community.
David Cameron supported the illegal war in Iraq
and his views on British foreign policy being
fair is far from the truth, Sir Michael Jay,
Permanent Secretary at the Foreign Office said
in a leaked report before the 2003 Iraq war that
if the UK went into an illegal war in Iraq
Britain would be at an increased risk of
terrorism, this is what we said at the time and
are still saying.
Mr Muhammad Umar, Chairman of the Foundation
adds:
“David Cameron doesn’t see that the double
standards that are applied in UK foreign policy
is a contributing factor in encouraging
terrorism.
When we see over 1000 innocent people killed in
Lebanon and he and his party have failed to
condemn Israeli aggression, how can Muslims have
confidence in his statements.
I am afraid that it looks like David Cameron is
the same as Blair, he has disappointed the
Muslim community and he will be reminded of this
in the next election”
