Mr. Mohammed Shafiq, Chief Executive of
the Ramadhan Foundation comments:
"I am deeply concerned at the torture video that has been released at
today's launch of the public inquiry into the death of Baha Mousa. What
this video proves is the assertion that British Servicemen have been
engaged in torture and humiliation to detainees contrary to human
decency and the Geneva Convention.
Foe some years the British Government have denied any torture has gone
on and have spent millions defending this position, not only was the
Iraq war illegal but torture was carried out by British forces. The
British Government should apologise and accept their mistakes in denying
any torture.
We welcome the Baha Mousa inquiry beginning today and urge the British
Government to come clean"
