TONY BLAIR'S SPEECH ON UNIVERSITY
EDUCATION AND ISLAM

The
Ramadhan Foundation is dismayed at Tony Blair's speech as his record on
engagement with the Muslim community is poor. We welcome his
recognition that you cannot hold all Muslims responsible for the
actions of a small minority of criminals, it is a pity that his
Government introduced legislation that discriminated against innocent
Muslims, his foreign policy was one of aggression and oppression and
under his watch millions have lost their lives around the world in his
blind allegiance to Bush's imperial wars and finally his Ministers
created an atmosphere of demonisation against Muslims, these Ministers
include Jack Straw, Phil Woolas, Hazel Blears, Bill Rammell, Ruth Kelly
and others on issues from the veil, cohesion, multiculturalism
etc.
The attempts to focus on minor issues without tackling the biggest
contributing factor to the threat to our country is part of a concerted
effort to minimise the impact of UK foreign policy.
The
Ramadhan Foundation is carrying on the work to tackle extremism and
terrorism in the UK, we hope that the new Prime Minister will work with
our group in a cooperative and partnership basis.
Mr. Shazad Anwar, Chief Executive of the Foundation:
“The
Ramadhan Foundation is dismayed at Tony Blair's attempt to change Islam
and to divert attention away from his illegal wars around the world,
his lasting legacy is Iraq..
This
Government needs to start listening to grassroots organisations like
the Ramadhan Foundation that are working on tackling extremism and
preventing further terrorist atrocities.
We
hope Gordon Brown will be more of a listening Prime Minister and not
introduce 90 day detention, we will be lobbying hard for the Muslim
voice to be heard.
