CHURCH OF ENGLAND REPORT
ON TERRORISM

The
Ramadhan Foundation welcomes today’s report from the Church of England
about UK foreign policy and that the illegal war in Iraq has helped
increase the risk of terrorism in Europe.
For
over four years Civil servants, politicians, commentators and faith
leaders have raised the issue that the Iraq war has put the UK at an
increase risk of terrorism and extremism. The former Permanent
Secretary of the Foreign Office, Michael Jay said in a leaked report to
Tony Blair that if the Iraq war had happened the UK would be subject to
increase terrorism. Muslim Groups have for many years being
saying this and have been accused of scaremongering.
This
report from the Church of England reinforces the double standards of
Blair’s foreign policy and why his actions have led to the killing of
millions of innocent people. We hope the Government wakes up and
recognises its failures.
Mr. Shazad Anwar, Chief Executive of the Foundation comments:
“The
Ramadhan Foundation welcomes the Church of England report and we
endorse key parts of it. They are right to say that with the
illegal war in Iraq this has led to increased terrorism and extremism.
It
is the illegal war in Iraq, the double standards in foreign policy and
the refusal of Blair’s Government to attack Israeli aggression in
Palestine and Lebanon that have contributed to this increased risk and
it is time for the Government to recognise this.
Let
him really open the discussion for this nation to discuss the double
standards that are applied in foreign policy”
