The Ramadhan Foundation is pleased to announce today that it
is bringing Muslims and organisations together in Rochdale to deal with the
menace of drugs. For too long Drugs dealers have been allowed to get away
with their crimes. This will no longer be allowed to continue. We
place the Drug dealers on notice.
On Sunday 23rd October 2005 at
Castlemere Community Centre, Tweedale Street, Rochdale there will be a launch
event to launch this direct action, it will be under the banner Rochdale Drugs
Watch and Uniting against Drugs, the event will run from 4.00pm to 6.00pm, we
will have former drug dealers from the UK and USA making speeches about their
lives and experiences. We will also have Paul Rowen MP, member of
Parliament for Rochdale, Councillors, community leaders and young people
attending. This event will be the beginning of the end of Drug dealers in
Rochdale. We will name and shame the dealers in the Rochdale area and
prior to this we will give them the opportunity of redeeming themselves.
Mohammed Shafiq, the Ramadhan Foundation Spokesman said:
“Drugs have blighted thousands of lives and the Ramadhan
Foundation is taking the lead in making our streets and communities clean of
drugs, this will be a non violent and peaceful campaign. We will no longer
allow our community to be a refuge for these criminals. We will ask their
parents and families serious questions about their child's action and place the
community on high alert to deal with this"
We will not stop until our
communities is clean on drugs and our residents can walk the street without
fear. Sadly direct action against them is the only option
We urge everyone to attend the
event on 23rd October 2005 and join our campaign, I am confident Rochdale will
once again be setting the agenda for others to follow
