"Drug dealing has blighted our communities
and we need to stop this now"
Over the past six months the BBC have been
following the United against Drugs campaign in
Rochdale ( The Foundation is a leading partner
in this campaign). The campaign stems from
the ever increasing drugs problem in our
community. Some months ago we decided that
enough was enough and something had to be done
to stop his evil amongst our community.
The
Foundation joined forces with the Rochdale Drugs
Watch, Deen4All, Wardleworth4All and many people
in Rochdale to launch a major campaign against
drugs and those that participated in this evil.
The
BBC Radio Five report team took a keen interest
in the work that we did and have over the past
six months followed us on a major journey to
primarily clean our communities and also show
the world the other side of Muslims, the
community focused people who want to clean the
area of drugs and prostitution. The main
characters are Mr. Muhammad Umar and Mr.
Muhammad Shafiq, leading by example.
Mr
Muhammad Umar comments:
"We
are pleased that the world will be seeing the
positive contribution Muslims are making to
eradicate the drugs problem in Rochdale, Drugs
has blighted thousands of lives and we must work
to put a stop to this, we thank the BBC for this
opportunity to show the listeners the work we
are doing in Rochdale.
We
invite Vernon Coaker, the Minister responsible
for policing and crime prevention to come to
Rochdale and see at first hand the effect drugs
and prostitution is having on law abiding
communities, there must be a zero tolerance
policy against drug dealers and prostitution, we
invite the world to listen to the programme on
Sunday 18th June 2006 at 11.00am on BBC Radio 5
