Muhammad Umar, Chairman of Ramadhan Foundation will be a guest
speaker at the annual Global Peace Convention, which will be convened
from December 10-14, 2009, in Manila, Philippines with a focus on the
theme: “Peace building for the 21st Century: Interfaith, Service and
Family”.
The Convention will bring together leading voices from around
the world including cutting edge service and interfaith leaders, social
entrepreneurs, government and the private sector. On the foundation of Global Peace
Festivals on every Continent last year, this world class convening of
prominent peace building figures will address themes of service, interfaith
conflict resolution, and family strengthening.
The Global Peace Convention will also support promising regional
efforts such as the Mindanao Peace Initiative which is convening Muslim,
Christian and other leaders to help bring peace to this area of
conflict, as well as other initiatives in hot spots from Kenya to the Middle
East. In this way, the
Convention will contribute directly to the urgent peace building work
that needs to be carried out, not only through dynamic leaders in the
Philippines, but also through service delegations coming to the
Convention from around the world who are building a global service
alliance.
The Chairman
will discuss the positive contributions Islam
and the Muslims bring to the UK and the wider world and
the way Muslims can contribute to world peace. Throughout the convention
the Chairman will have one to one sessions with key international
leaders and thinkers setting out the vision of a peaceful world.
