RELEASE OF GUANTANAMO
DETAINEES IS GOOD NEWS

The
Ramadhan Foundation welcomes the British Government’s attempts to get
the release of the remaining five British residents in the Guantanamo
Bay camp. These people have been denied their human rights by
continued detention without trial, access to legal help, family contact
and consular support.
For
many years the Ramadhan Foundation is being pushing for these suspects
to be given the basic human rights that we are entitled to, if the US
Government had any evidence that these people were a danger to any
country then surely that evidence should be made public in a court of
law.
This
blatant abuse of Human Rights has gone on for too long and the sooner
it is closed the better for all concerned. There can never be
different rules for different countries and human rights are afforded
to all.
Mr. Shazad Anwar, Chief Executive of the Foundation comments:
“The
Ramadhan Foundation welcomes the change made today by the British
Government in relation to those five British residents held in
Guantanamo Bay. Their continued detention is an affront to human
rights and justice.
We
not only urge the US Government to release all detainees but
permanently close this camp
Only
then will these detainees be able to move on with their lives, we urge
the US Government to release them immediately so they can be reunited
with their families”
