FIVE
YEARS ON IN IRAQ, THE LIES CONTINUE

As
the world remembers the five year anniversary of the start of the
illegal war in Iraq, we remember the millions that have died as a
result of occupation. President Bush is living cloud cuckoo land
when he says that they are succeeding in Iraq as all the evidence
suggests that the opposite is true. Since the occupation began we
have seen hundreds die on a daily basis, the economy is failing, daily
life is hard for ordinary people, no clean water, electricity or gas
and oppression from the occupying forces.
Five
years on the world recognises that the illegal war in Iraq was illegal
according to international law, that’s why we believe that George Bush
and Tony Blair should be held responsible for this flagrant breech of
international law. When people reflect on Iraq today we should
remember the role of Gordon Brown, as Chancellor he signed the cheques
for this illegal war and until the occupying forces leave this will
never change.
Mr.
Muhammad Umar, Chairman of the Foundation comments:
“Today
we remember the millions that have lost their lives since the beginning
of the illegal war in Iraq. There never were any weapons of mass
destructions; we were taken into an illegal war on a false
promise.
The
Ramadhan Foundation believes that until the occupation ends and until
Iraq is once and again free and sovereign will the lives of ordinary
Iraqis improve.
How
can President Bush claim success when millions have died and life is
worse for many Iraqis, occupation has meant foreign companies have got
richer whilst the poor go hunger.
President
Bush and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair must be held account
for this flagrant breech of international law.”
