The Ramadhan Foundation offers their deepest condolences
to the family of Nick Clarke on the announcement of his
death. He was a towering figure in the BBC who went to
great lengths to get the truth out to the public.
Nick Clarke inspired huge confidence in impartial
questioning of Ministers and his constant questioning of
Government Ministers on the Iraq War was an example of
his basic principle of journalists getting to the bottom
of the truth. His style of interviewing was unique and
brought many people to the World at One.
Mr. Muhammad Umar, Chairman of the Foundation comments:
“We offer our deepest condolences to the family and
friends of Nick Clarke, his stewardship of the BBC
demonstrated that he represented the best of journalism
and brought a unique blend to his programme.
I recall his soft style and warm personality when I was
interviewed on BBC HardTalk after the 7/7 attacks on
London. I was extremely nervous for the interview but
Nick put me at ease and was very gentle in his questions
unlike the treatment often provided to politicians!!
He will be greatly missed by all those that value and
campaign for a free and impartial press.
