MOHAMMED SHAFIQ APPOINTED CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE RAMADHAN FOUNDATION

Published: 16/07/2008 17:00

The Ramadhan Foundation is pleased to announce that Mohammed Shafiq has been appointed Chief Executive with immediate effect; his appointment follows his previous roles as Press Spokesman.

Since 7/7 the challenges have been for the Muslim community to take up the challenges of modern media and ensure that our voice is heard by the Government, the Ramadhan Foundation has taken on this challenge with great enthusiasm and commitment, and we have been able to establish ourselves as the leading Muslim youth organisation in the UK.

Mr. Muhammad Umar, Chairman of the Foundation comments:

“I am delighted to appoint Mohammed Shafiq as the new Chief Executive, his strong performance as Press Spokesman has led to the Foundation becoming the first port of contact for journalists and I know his qualities of leadership, commitment and strength will enable the Foundation move forward onto new challenges”

Mr. Mohammed Shafiq, Director of the Foundation comments:

“It is very humbling that I have been appointed as the new Chief Executive, to be given this unique opportunity to serve the community I am keen to take the Foundation on to new challenges and continue to provide a positive voice for Muslims in the UK.

We have seen a dramatic change in the make up of Muslim organisations in the UK, often the Ramadhan Foundation has been at the forefront of setting the benchmark in terms of events and make up of speakers that appear and this style will continue.

We commit ourselves to standing with other faiths during these difficult times of attacks on people of faith, we stand with those that are oppressed in the world and we will continue to challenge the misconceptions of Islam and Muslims”

END
