RAMADHAN
FOUNDATION ON SKY NEWS 9TH AUGUST ABOUT THE ROLE OF THE MOSQUE
Published:
07/08/2007 15.00
The
Ramadhan Foundation is participating in a News report into the Role of
the Mosque for Sky News on Thursday 9th August 2007.
It will be shown every hour and there will also be an article by
Mohammed Shafiq, Press Spokesman on the challenges for the Mosques in
the 21st Century. There is an interview with Qari
Ishaq, 2nd Imam in the Bilal Central Mosque from Rochdale.
The
article will be available both on Sky News Website and on the Ramadhan
Foundation website from Thursday morning.
This
contribution sets out the challenges for the Mosques to ensure that
they encompass the needs of young Muslims in the 21st
Century. Without considering these needs we will see continued
disillusionment with the Mosques.
Mr.
Mohammed Shafiq, Press Spokesman of the Foundation comments:
“We
pay tribute to the hard work of our elders in establishing Mosques in
this country, without their sacrifices and hard work we would not be
where we are. Having said this we need to recognise that our
Mosques need to reform and change to ensure that Young Muslims are
heard and services are provided to them in English.
We
welcome the work that many Muslim organisations are doing in this area
but we now need to see action from the mosque committees and
executives.
The
voice of Young Muslims is clear and now is time to listen”
